ANNA-MARIA DUR, since many years an  immense successful ly dramatic mezzo-soprano, is showered by the press with superlatives as  "class of her own", " a revelation", "brilliant", "highly authentic", “technical perfect", "overwhelming", fantastic singer and actor", "a gift from heaven", "world-class".

In the 2022/23 season, Mrs Dur will appear as MOTHER/GERTRUD in Humperdinck's "Händel & Gretel" at the Nederlandse Reisopera.
A part, she already embodied with high critically acclaim at the Felsenreitschule Salzburg ; where she in 2016, '18 and '19 in productions of the Salzburger Festspiele also performed the parts of CAMILLA in Thomas Adés "The Exterminating Angel" in stage direction of Krzysztof Warlikowski, of MÉROPE in Enescu's "Œedipe"  in stage direction of Achim Freyer and under the baton of Ingo Metzmacher, and of BÉROE in Henze's "The Bassarids" under Kent Nagano.

Due to the Covid-pandemic, her planed theater-debut at the Komische Oper Berlin as BÉROE in stage direction of Barrie Kosky and with Vladimir Jurowski conducting, unfortunately had to be cancelled.

Commitments of the recent past included a highly celebrated  LA CIECA in Poinchelli's "La Gioconda" and  MADRE in  Menotti's "Der Konsul" at the Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck, where she also embodied ZITA in "Gianni Schicchi" in stage direction of Carlos Wagner and under the baton of Lukas Beikircher, as well as ZIA PRINCIPESSA in Puccini's "Suor Angelica", for which she was nominated as "Best female supporting part" at the Austrian Music-Theater-Award 2020.

In the 2021/22 season, she returned to Salzburg to embody HANNA PITT / RABBI / HENRY / ANGEL ASIATICA in Peter Eötvös'' "Angels in America" (Quotation Peter Eötvös: "The best Rabbi ever!") at the Landestheater Salzburg, where she is a regular guest and already appeared as MRS TWIST in the Austrian Premiere of Charles Wuorinen's "Brokeback Mountain", TERESA in Donizetti's "La Sonnambula" and FILIPIEWNA in Chaikovsky's "Jewgeni Onegin".
In addition, she was MOTHER in Humperdinck's "Hänsel & Gretel". A part, which also led her to the Staatstheater Mainz.

Furthermore, she performed FILIPJEVNA at the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden and  the Oper Köln, where she also gave her debut as WESNER's MUTTER in Zimmermann's "Die Soldaten" and performed MARY in Wagner's "Der Fliegende Holländer";
MARY also led her to the Wuppertaler Bühnen, where she also was THERESA in Donizetti's "La Sonnambula"; 
and as MARFA IGNATJEVNA KABANOVA in Janacek's "Katja Kabanova",  BRANGÄNE in Wagner's "Tristan & Isolde" and PRIORIN in Othmar Schock's seldom played opera "Das Schloß Dürande" she appeared at the Meininger Staatstheater and overtook on a short call BRIGITTA in Korngold's "Die Tote Stadt" at Oper Graz.

Netherlands born Anna-Maria Dur studied at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles (“Prix d’excellence”) and the  Sweelinck Conservatorium Amsterdam, as well as with the "Grande Dame of Belcanto" Christina Deutekom, and completed her studies with masterclasses in Italy with Prof. Giulietta Simionato und Prof. Salvatore Campogalliani.

Young Anna-Maria She gave her debut as EURYDICE in Monteverdi’s "Orfeo" at the Vlaamse Opera Antwerpen, followed up by numerous parts in baroque operas, working with big names of the scene such as Ton Koopman and Phillippe Herreweghe, performing among others at the Festival van Vlaanderen, Festival de Wallonie, the Holland Festival Amsterdam, as well as the Festivals in  Paris, Locarno and Madrid. 

After her vocal change to a Dramatic Mezzosoprano, Anna-Maria Dur was performing, next to the already mentioned, the Wagner-parts of KUNDRY in “Parsifal”, ORTRUD in “Lohengrin”, VENUS in “Tannhäuser”, GRIMGERDE in „Walküre” and  ERDA in “Rheingold” the Richard-Strauss-parts of KLYTEMNÄSTRA in “Elektra” , ANNINA in “Der Rosenkavalier” and HERODIAS in “Salome”; SANTUZZA in Mascagnis’s “Cavalleria Rusticana”, EBOLI in Verdi’s “Don Carlo”, AZUCENA in “Il Trovatore” and AMNERIS in “Aida”,  MARCELLINA in Mozart’s „Le Nozze di Figaro“, GERTRUD in Erkel’s “Bánk BánKABANICHA in „Katja Kabanowa“, MUTTER and HEXE in Humperdinck’s „Hänsel & Gretel“, and MADELON in Umberto Giordano’s “Andréa Chenier”, 
to name only a few of Ana-Maria Dur’s more than 60 parts including opera repertoire, where one also can find many parts in contemporary operas, such as her highly celebrated PONCIA in Aribert Reimanns "Bernarda Albas Haus".

In 2009, Anna-Maria Dur was awarded for her interpretation as  KUNDRY  by Magazine "Die Opernwelt” as “Best Singer of the Season”.

Her theatre Credits include the Nederlandse Opera Amsterdam, the Oper Theater Bern, the Opera Bologna, the Staatstheater Braunschweig, the Théâtre de la Monnaie Brüssel, the Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf, the Oper Frankfurt, the Staatstheater Hannover, the Innsbrucker Landestheater, the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern, the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, the Oper Köln, the Operá de Liège,  the Nationaltheater Mannheim, the Theater Meiningen, the Nationale Reisopera, the Oper Nürnberg, the Salzburger Festspiele, the Salzburger Landestheater, and the Théâtre Capitole Toulouse, being partner of, among others, Eva Marton, Gwyneth Jones, Gabriele Schnaut or Placido Domingo.

She had the pleasure to work with conductors and stage directors such as Thomas Adès, Wolfgang Bozis, Justin Brown, Roman Brogli-Sacher, Miquel Gomez-Martinez, Jun Märkel, Ingo Metzmacher, Kent Nagano, Sir John  Pritchard, Uwe Sandner, Pinchas Steinberg, Hans Urbanek, Hans Zender; and Bruno Berger-Gorski, Tom Cairns, Willy Decker, Achim Freyer, Ansgar Haag, Gerd Heinz, Hansgünther Heyme, Alfred Kirchner, Andrea Moses, Peter Stein, Robert Tannenbaum. 

Besides opera, Anna-Maria Dur’s second passion is the Art-Song, giving regularly Recitals in whole Europe; also in this genre with  high critical acclaim: “Anna-Maria Dur, with a wonderful imbered, full, warm mezzosoprano, interpret the <Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen> very moving

In 2002, Anna-Maria Dur was appointed Professor for Voice at the Conservatory in Mannheim, being in this profession as successful as a singer, having many of her students singing in renowned international theaters.

In addition, she is a frequently asked lecturer of Masterclasses and congresses among others in Milano, Triest, Glasgow and Bad Neustadt, and a not less frequently asked writer in specialized musical magazinges, such as the „Musikermedizin“.
